Tower Climbing Cadweld Molds, Grounding, and Welding Equipment

Few things are as dangerous as electricity and as a tower climber, you will have to deal with electricity fairly regularly. An important part of working with electricity is your grounding connections. These connections help control the electricity and ensure everyone’s safety. Here at GME Supply, we pride ourselves on keeping you safe and productive on the job. That’s why we have a full line of Cadweld molds, welding metal, and accessories (including full kits). Our kits come with everything you need to get started with grounding.

Accessories

Cadweld grounding equipment can be used in a number of ways and our line of accessories can help make your job a lot easier. We feature ignitors (both flint and electronic), handle clamps, adapter sleeves, cleaning brushes, and joint compound so that no matter what the task at hand you can get it done right and as safe as possible.

Molds

Cadweld connections are made with a semi-permanent graphite mold, which holds the conductors to be welded. These molds come in a range of configurations depending on the job at hand. Each mold is compatible with a selection of connection types and can be used with specific types of weld metal.

Weld Metal

Weld metal (a mixture of copper oxide and aluminum) is dumped into the top of the mold. Then the mold is covered and the weld metal is ignited. The exothermic reaction produces molten copper, which results in a permanent, high conductivity connection. A Cadweld Connection has current carrying capacity equal to that of the conductor, is permanent with a low resistance connection that cannot loosen or corrode, uses lightweight, inexpensive equipment, requires no external source of power or heat, and can be easily checked for quality.
