WestFall Pro PSK Kernmantle Rope
When working in at-height industries, rope is one of the most important parts of your kit. It is literally your lifeline and the versatility of rope is unmatched by most other pieces of equipment. At GME Supply we strive to provide the best rope we can find and in this weeks blog post our Gear Experts® are proud to announce that we now carry the WestFall Pro PSK Kernmantle Rope.
The WestFall Pro PSK Kernmantle Rope comes in two different size options (1/2 and 7/16 inch). The rope has a 100% polyester, kernmantle construction and is certified to NFPA 1983. 
Due to the low elongation of the polyester fiber and customized fiber processing, the WestFall Pro PSK has very low stretch and bounce. It is compatible with common equipment like the Petzl ASAPÂ and ASAP Lock, the ISC D4Â and D5, and the WestFall Pro Descenders.
PSK is made in the USA and is available in 5 colors: blue, green, orange, red, and white. It is also available in a range of lengths. Both sizes of rope come in 300, 600, and 1,200 foot options and the 300 and 600 foot options come with a metal eye in one end. For added durability, the WestFall Pro PSK Kernmantle Rope has a firm smooth sheath to mitigate debris penetration. The 7/16†rope has an MBS of 6,750 lbs and the ½†has an MBS of 9,000 lbs.
What are the Benefits of Kernmantle Rope?
Kernmantle rope is ideal for use in rescue kits, vertical lifelines, and ascent/descent rope access work. The rope consists of twisted parallel fibers (the kern) surrounded by a tightly braided sheath (the mantle). The core fibers provide the majority (about 70%) of the rope’s strength and the sheath is tightly braided providing significantly higher abrasion resistance. Rope Care and Inspection
Taking care of your rope can significantly increase its usable life and it keeps you safe. The smooth sheath on the WestFall Pro PSK may help keep out debris, but the rope should still be cared for properly. Cleaning the rope with rope wash can help prevent damage to the rope and proper inspections should be performed prior to each use.
