Product Spotlight: Ergodyne Tool Tethering Kits

Kits to help Stop the drop.   When it comes to working at-height, dropping tools can cause a whole range of problems. Not only can it damage or break expensive tools, but it can also severely harm, or even kill, people below you. That’s why tethering your tools is so important. Whether you’re a tower climber, wind technician, or work in various industries like carpentry, masonry, iron/steel, scaffolding, and a handful of other at-height professions, tethering your tools can save you money - and keep your crew and other people on the ground safe. Our Gear Experts® are going to break down the Trades Tool Tethering Kits from Ergodyne.

Tool Tethers Front and Center

In 2019 we saw an industry-wide increased focus on tool tethering with the implementation of the ISEA/ANSI Dropped Objects Prevention Standard. And, the buzz around tool tethering won’t be going anywhere anytime soon as more site owners and carriers begin to require tool tethers to be used when working.

Tethering Tools Before It Was Cool

Tool tethers have been around for quite a while. And, with their long-standing series of Squids tool tethers, Ergodyne is no stranger to the tool tethering game. As tool tethers have became adopted, Ergodyne wanted to provide even more value by creating kits that were built with specific industries in mind. That’s when the Squids Tethering Kits were born. These kits come with a variety of tool tethering equipment uniquely suited to outfit you, or your entire crew, with the gear you need to stay safe, stay compliant, and get the job done.

What’s in the Box?

The kits feature a range of different tethering solutions and have been designed for compatibility with both large and small tools. They also include supplies to retrofit tools without lanyard connectors tetherable. Outlining what each kit contains would may this blog post entirely too long - and we aren’t here to bore you. So, instead, we will mention some of the pieces that are included in most of the kits, and provide a list of the available kits for you to check out.

Tool Shackles, Self-Adhering Tape, & Web Connectors

Many of the kits include various amounts of large and small tool shackles. The tool shackles are used to make connection points on any compatible tool. If a tool shackle isn’t an option - you can still retrofit your tool with the use of self-adhering tape and web connectors.

Tool Traps

When it comes to tool traps the most common ones in the kits are a large power tool trap, hand tool traps, and a tape measure trap all with d-rings for convenient and easy tie-off.

Tool Tethers (Lanyards)

As far as actual tethers (often referred to as lanyards), these kits contain a variety of different styles like wrist lanyards, carabiner lanyards, detachable tool lanyards with additional loops, coil lanyards and other more specific lanyards depending on the kit style.
