DBI Sala 1244409 ShockWave2 Twin Leg Aluminum Lanyard

ShockWave™2 shock absorbing lanyards incorporate a unique stretchable design. It offers complete freedom of movement while reducing trip fall hazards, dragging or snagging by expanding to 6 ft. (1.8m) when taut and automatically contracting to 4-1/2 ft. (1.4m) in reaction to the worker’s movements. The design is lightweight and provides added comfort and safety. The unique inner core begins to extend and absorb energy once subjected to a fall, and limits the fall arrest forces to safe levels. A built-in impact indicator provides easy visual evidence if the shock has been involved in a fall. All DBI/SALA® lanyards incorporate our patented self-locking snap hooks which are widely recognized in the industry for their user friendly operation and are preferred by safety professionals and workers alike. Specifically designed to allow you to open and connect the hook without getting your thumb or fingers in the way - even with gloves on.

Features:
  • 6 ft. (1.8m) double-leg 100% tie-off lanyard - Allows user to “leap-frog” while moving from one location to another for added mobility, staying tied-off at all times for 100% fall protection.
  • Stretches in reaction to your movements - Expands to 6 ft. (1.8m) when taut and contracts to 4-1/2 ft. (1.4m) keeping it out of the workers way, reducing dragging, snagging and trip falls.
  • Abrasion resistant polyester tubular webbing - Rugged construction endures rough use, standing up to long periods of outdoor elements including sun exposure without tearing or fraying for added longevity.
  • User friendly self locking snap hook at center - Automatically locks and closes for added safety, and allow you to open and connect without getting your thumb or fingers in the way - even with gloves on.
  • Self-locking aluminum rebar hooks at leg ends - Automatically locks and closes for added safety, and its 2-1/4" (57mm) large gate opening fits over larger anchorage structures.
  • Energy absorbing design limits fall arrest forces - Unique inner core immediately begins to extend and absorb energy during a fall, limiting arresting forces to safe levels.
  • Built-in impact indicator - Allows user to visually see if the lanyard has been involved in a fall, providing safe, simple and reliable inspection.
  • Protected labels, equipped with i-Safe™ - A Velcro® cover protects lanyard labels and holds an i-Safe™RFID identification tag for recording and storing information on inspections.

Great quality, horrible hooks
  • As with any lanyard from DBI Sala and at this price point, build quality and materials are top notch. Why only 2 stars then? The rebar hooks are EXTREMELY difficult to operate. The design is horrible. You can be sure these gates will never open accidentally, because it takes a minor miracle to get them open intentionally. There is a complex system of cams and slides in the gate that does a great job interlocking the gate to the hook.. But makes gate lock release not smooth at all (despite trying to lube it). The lock release is positioned in a way that makes it very awkward to operate. Pressure on the gate causes the gate lock release to lock up, so you basically have to squeeze the lock release without putting any pressure on the gate itself.
  • Very wide rebar hook opening. Lightweight hooks.
  • Operating rebar hook gate release is near impossible.

Rebar hook tough to operate
  • After some confusion due to pictures of different products in the same listing, a quick chat rectified the problem immediately and the incorrect picture was removed. No more confusion!

I bought this model particularly for the unique shape of the rebar hook. I felt having the extra space would do better on the towers I climb. I have yet to climb with it, but I have found the lock mechanism tough to operate. Much harder than my old lanyard. It's quite the complex locking mechanism that locks both at the top and the bottom of the gate. The issue is the lock release is difficult to press unless you have your hand very far down on the hook. If there is ANY pressure on the gate, you aren't going to be able to release it. And the mechanism is not very smooth. Going to try and lube it a little. I am hoping it will smooth out after some use but trying to get the gate open is not something I want to struggle with on a tower.
  • Aluminum for lighter weight, unique rebar hook shape for larger anchors. iSafe
  • Gate release hard to operate.
